The Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act is a bill that Barack Obama signed on March 23, 2010. The basic intention of the Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as ObamaCare, is to ensure that every U.S. citizen is receiving health insurance. Congress and President Obama plan to do this by imposing new restrictions on insurance companies regarding accepting new clients and also through a government funded insurance program that charges families based on their size and income in relation to the federal poverty line. ObamaCare is important because this was a bill that President Obama proposed to Congress and strongly supported throughout it's time in the lawmaking progress. This is essentially Obama's baby; it is the one thing that no one will be able to forget about his presidency because it is so controversial, plus his name is a part of the title.
Death of Osama bin Laden
On May 2, 2011 Osama Bin Laden was killed by the United States' SEAL Team Six. This successful operation was something America had been waiting for since the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center when we set out on a nearly impossible man hunt. Bin Laden was buried in the North Arabian Sea after being tossed off the USS Carl Vinson; this was in accordance with Islam burial rituals and done as a way to give bin Laden his rights as an Islam. Although this event may not be the result of Obama's direct action, it is important because any American who was watching TV will forever have Obama's speech burned into their memory and the patriotic feeling that overcame them will always be linked to President Obama.
