Berlin Wall Falls
On November 9, 1989 the Berlin Wall was brought down. When this event occurred many people were shocked that President George H.W. Bush chose not to dance on the fallen wall. He made this decision to avoid appearing as if he were gloating which would only provoke the Soviets. This event symbolizes the ending of the cold war which was an important event in American history because the Cold War is an era in American society and suddenly that is over. NAFTA has eliminated trade barriers between the United States, Canada, and Mexico to make for more profitable trading and investing between the three countries.
Americans with Disabilities Act
On July 26, 1990 George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities act which forbids discrimination against those with disabilities in the workplace and other public areas. This will make it easier for people with disabilities to get jobs because employers cannot deny them a job simply due to their handicap. This Act will affect over 48 million Americans who must deal with their handicap daily. This event shows that things are changing for America and they are becoming more accepting and understanding of those with disabilities. This is important because
